Applying for a job

Business Bridge can help you gain valuable paid work experience before you graduate.

Work is flexible and based around your timetable. During term time you will be required to work 1 - 2 days per week, this can be full time during holiday periods. Business Bridge projects are part-time jobs, so all are subject to national minimum wage regulations. We set a guideline to companies of £35 to £45 per day (for a 7 hour day excluding lunch). Some employers may be willing to pay more, but this is at the discretion of the employer and should be discussed at interview.

Students are employed directly by the company and we recommend that you work from the company premises wherever possible.

Induction sessions:
As of November 2006 all student wishing to register with Business Bridge must attend an induction session. For more information please see the process detailed below

Step 1
Register

To register you will need to complete a student registration form and provide us with an up-to-date copy of your CV.

Step 2
Induction session

All students registering with Business Bridge must attend an induction session. These valuable sessions are designed to give you the chance find out more about us and will give you hints and tips on how to make the most of signing up.

Find a job

Step 4
Interview

Once you have found a vacancy that you are interested in, we will assess your suitability for the post. Business Bridge will send off your CV and arrange a time for you to meet with the company to discuss the work in more detail. Meeting the company is your opportunity to find out about the company and for them to find out about you. After the interview someone from Business Bridge will contact you.

Step 5
Start work

When everything has been confirmed you will be able to start work. Your Student Liaison Officer will provide you with some forms that need completing. Throughout your time at the business you must keep in touch with the Business Bridge team. This will help both you and Business Bridge to monitor how the work is developing.

Step 6
Further works

Once you have completed the work you must advise the Business Bridge team so that we know you are no longer working at the business. You must then complete an evaluation form. We can then, if you wish, help you look for additional work.
